The Gallery Real Estate wins Gold at the 2026 Sydney Design Awards

The Gallery Real Estate has been awarded Gold for identity and branding at the 2026 Sydney Design Awards, in the category covering graphic design, identity and branding for property and services.

The Sydney Design Awards sit inside Better Future, an international network of design award programs. Entries are rated by industry experts and a jury drawn from that network. The category is judged on clarity of communication and how well the work suits the audience it is speaking to. Gold is the program's top tier.

What was recognised is the whole brand rather than any single piece of it. The identity, the photography, the video, the website and the marketing that sits around them were built as one system. They were judged as one.

Why a property manager enters a design award

It is a fair question. Most agencies would not think to.

Property management is a category that largely looks and sounds the same wherever you go. The language is transactional, the visuals are generic and the loudest competition is on fee. That sameness is not a design problem on the surface. It is a signal that most agencies see management as administration, so they market it as administration.

We have never seen it that way. Managing someone's property well is closer to a craft than to paperwork. It takes judgement, attention and a lot of small decisions made properly. The brand exists to say that out loud, which is why it is built the way it is: clean type, generous space, a restrained palette, real photography of real people and places. Nothing in it is trying to shout.

The Gallery Real Estate website, this is the art of property management

The idea underneath it

The whole platform hangs off one line. The art of property management.

It is not a tagline looking for a home. It is the organising idea. It decides things. It is why the website is built to be used rather than to be admired, why our routine inspections are filmed so an owner overseas can walk through their own property, why the reporting is designed to be read in a few minutes rather than filed unopened. Where others manage properties, we would rather curate them.

What the awards program recognised

The Sydney Design Awards publish an entry page for every awarded project. Ours sits in the Graphic Design category for identity and branding in property and services, listed under the program's 2026 Sydney season.

The judging notes describe a category that was largely undifferentiated, dominated by transactional language and generic visuals, and a brand that set out to reframe property management as a curatorial practice rather than an administrative one. The identity was built on restraint: clean typography, generous space and a disciplined colour system, with photography and video adding the human warmth. The entry closes with the line that we are “the standard by which property management should be measured”.

Gold is the program's top tier. It is awarded on the strength of the work against the category criteria, so more than one project in a category can receive it.

A note from Thomas Tamine

An award for design is a strange thing for an agency like ours to win. That is exactly why it means something to me.

We do not have the scale or the marketing budget of the large franchises. What we have is the work and the way it is presented. Every email written properly, every inspection done thoroughly, every report that respects the reader's time. A brand is not the logo. It is the accumulation of all of that, made visible.

This is the third piece of recognition in 2026, after Outstanding Real Estate Agency at the Local Business Awards and the Young Business Champion Entrepreneur of the Year award. The first two were about how we work. This one is about how clearly we say it. I am not sure which I would rather have.

Thank you to every landlord who has trusted us with their investment and every tenant who has made one of our managed properties their home. The brand only holds up because the work behind it does.
